to BT
Yahoo! Broadband. This new
consumer broadband product has a high degree of personalisation, integrated
parental controls, a high standard of security such as a free firewall, anti-virus
and anti-spam software and a pop-up killer for spam. Consumer narrowband products
include BT Yahoo! Anytime, BT Yahoo! Surftime and BT Yahoo!
Pay as you go.
What is BT Broadband ?
BT Broadband provides an instant connection - there is no waiting for a modem
to dial up
It is flexible - you can make or receive a telephone call on your standard
analogue connection while online (you will continue to be billed in the normal
way - rental and call charges - for your standard telephone service)
BT Broadband can help save money as there is no need for two lines
With BT Broadband 2Mb you can download at up to 40 times the speed of dial
-up internet (standard 56kbps access)
BT Broadband charges (connection and rental) are billed on the single BT bill
for convenience
When you place an order for the product BT
Broadband will agree a date with
you for your telephone line to be upgraded to broadband. This date is known
as your 'activation date' and is usually around 7 working days from your placing
your order. Within these 7 days BTBROADBAND test your line remotely to ensure
it can support broadband and they will let you know the results via email.
If everything is ok, they will send you a 'Welcome pack' containing software
and installation instructions (also an Broadband modem or modem/router, two
microfilters if you purchased BT Yahoo! Broadband with modem or BT Yahoo! Broadband
for games console). They will keep you informed about the progress of your
order by email. If there is a hitch, they will contact you immediately.
On your activation date your line will be ready for broadband use from 6pm
onwards. On or after this date you simply load the software on to your computer
following the instructions included, plug in your Broadband filters to your
phone sockets and connect up your Broadband modem or modem/router.
Your billing will start one day after the activation of your broadband line
has taken place.
